cTrader Proxy Setup on Android.
cTrader’s Android app has no native proxy dialog. The correct method: AdGuard free sets a device-level SOCKS5 proxy that routes cTrader’s traffic through your TradersProxy node.
cTrader for Android has no native proxy settings dialog. Install AdGuard free from Google Play. In AdGuard: Settings → Filtering → Network → Proxy → add proxy → SOCKS5 → enter your TradersProxy host, port, username, password. Enable the proxy and AdGuard protection. Done.

⚠ Phone-wide proxy warning. AdGuard routes all apps on your phone through the proxy — not just cTrader. All apps use the proxy while AdGuard is active. On a mobile data plan, this will consume your data allowance faster. Disable AdGuard when you are not trading if data usage is a concern.
How to proxy cTrader on Android
Before you start
You need:
- cTrader installed and connecting to your broker normally.
- Your TradersProxy credentials from the portal: host, port, username, password.
- AdGuard free installed from Google Play.
Step 1 — Copy your TradersProxy credentials
Log in to the TradersProxy portal. Copy your host, port, username, and password and paste them into a notes app before proceeding.
Step 2 — Install AdGuard from Google Play
Search AdGuard on Google Play and install AdGuard: Block Ads & Surf Safe by AdGuard Software Limited. The free version includes full proxy support. Grant the VPN permission when prompted.
Step 3 — Open the proxy settings in AdGuard
Tap Settings (gear icon) → Filtering → Network → Proxy.
Step 4 — Add your TradersProxy proxy server
Tap + to add a proxy entry:
- Proxy type: SOCKS5 (or HTTP if SOCKS5 fails on your carrier)
- Proxy host: paste from your portal
- Proxy port: enter the port from your portal
- Username: your TradersProxy username
- Password: your TradersProxy password
Tap Save.
Step 5 — Enable the proxy and AdGuard protection
Toggle Enable proxy on. Return to the AdGuard main screen and confirm the shield is green / protection is active. Both must be on.
Step 6 — Launch cTrader
Open cTrader and connect to your broker. cTrader shows no proxy indicator in the mobile app — routing happens at the OS level via AdGuard.
Known gotchas on Android
Issues traders hit most often with the AdGuard proxy method on Android.
Disable battery optimisation for AdGuard. Android Settings → Apps → AdGuard → Battery → Unrestricted. Without this, Android suspends AdGuard when the screen locks, dropping the proxy and disconnecting cTrader.
Check proxy status after AdGuard updates. App updates can reset the proxy toggle. Verify Settings → Filtering → Network → Proxy is still enabled after any AdGuard update.
SOCKS5 port blocked on some mobile carriers. If the proxy works on Wi-Fi but not cellular, switch proxy type to HTTP in AdGuard. TradersProxy supports both protocols.
Data usage increases on mobile plans. The proxy routes all phone traffic while active, not just cTrader. Disable AdGuard when not trading to avoid unnecessary data consumption.
Alternative: SocksDroid
SocksDroid is a dedicated SOCKS5 proxy client for Android. It’s lighter than AdGuard — no ad-blocking layer, no “enable protection” toggle — just a direct SOCKS5 tunnel using Android’s VPN service. Free, no root required, available on Google Play.
SocksDroid setup — 4 steps
Step 1 — Install SocksDroid from Google Play
Search SocksDroid on Google Play and install it. Grant the VPN permission when prompted — it uses Android’s VPN service to route traffic, the same mechanism as AdGuard.
Step 2 — Enter your proxy server details
In SocksDroid, paste your TradersProxy host into the Server Address field and your port into the Port field.
Step 3 — Enable authentication
Toggle Enable Authentication on. Enter your TradersProxy username and password from the portal. SocksDroid supports SOCKS5 username/password authentication directly.
Step 4 — Connect
Tap the connect toggle at the top of the screen. SocksDroid creates a VPN tunnel routing all device traffic through your TradersProxy SOCKS5 node. Open cTrader and connect to your broker as normal.
AdGuard vs SocksDroid: AdGuard supports per-app filtering and has a more polished UI. SocksDroid is leaner — one toggle, purpose-built for proxy routing. Both require battery optimisation disabled (Android Settings → Apps → [app] → Battery → Unrestricted) to stay active when your screen locks.
