⚠ Wi-Fi only. HTTP proxy (not SOCKS5). The iOS system Wi-Fi proxy applies only to the configured Wi-Fi network — not cellular (4G/5G). iOS supports HTTP proxy only in Wi-Fi settings. TradersProxy supports HTTP, so your credentials work. The proxy applies to all apps on that Wi-Fi, not just cTrader.
How to proxy cTrader on iPhone
Before you start
You need:
- cTrader installed on your iPhone or iPad and connecting to your broker normally.
- Your TradersProxy credentials: host, port, username, password.
- Your iPhone connected to the Wi-Fi you trade on.
Step 1 — Copy your credentials
Log in to the TradersProxy portal and copy the host, port, username, and password. Paste them into iOS Notes before you start — you’ll need to switch apps mid-setup.
Step 2 — Open Wi-Fi settings
Go to Settings → Wi-Fi. Tap the (i) info icon to the right of your current Wi-Fi network name.
Step 3 — Configure the HTTP proxy manually
Scroll down to the HTTP Proxy section. Tap Configure Proxy. Select Manual.
Step 4 — Enter host, port, and credentials
In the Server field, paste your TradersProxy host. In Port, enter the port number. Toggle Authentication ON. Enter your Username and Password from the portal.
Step 5 — Save and test
Tap Save. Open cTrader and connect to your broker. cTrader’s traffic on this Wi-Fi now routes through your TradersProxy node transparently.
Known gotchas on iOS
Wi-Fi only — cellular is not covered. The proxy applies only on the Wi-Fi network you configured it for. When you switch to cellular or a different Wi-Fi, the proxy is inactive. You’ll need to configure the proxy separately for each Wi-Fi network you trade on.
HTTP proxy only — no SOCKS5 in iOS Wi-Fi settings. iOS only supports HTTP proxy in the system Wi-Fi settings. TradersProxy supports HTTP CONNECT, so your credentials work without issue.
Proxy settings are lost when you forget a network. If you remove and re-add a Wi-Fi network, the proxy configuration is cleared. Do not “Forget this network” without noting your proxy settings first.
All apps on that Wi-Fi use the proxy. iOS system proxy is network-wide. Your browser, other apps, and cTrader all route through the proxy on this Wi-Fi. Set proxy to Off when not trading if this causes issues with other apps.
Method 2: Shadowrocket — SOCKS5 on cellular
The iOS Wi-Fi proxy above is free but limited to Wi-Fi and HTTP only. Shadowrocket ($2.99 one-off, App Store) supports SOCKS5 and works on both Wi-Fi and cellular data — the complete proxy solution for iPhone traders who trade on the go.
Shadowrocket setup — 3 steps
Step 1 — Purchase and install Shadowrocket
Search Shadowrocket on the App Store. It costs $2.99 (one-off payment, not a subscription). Install and open the app. Grant the VPN permission when prompted.
Step 2 — Add your TradersProxy server
Tap the + icon in the top-right corner. Set Type to SOCKS5. In the Host field, paste your TradersProxy host. Enter your Port, User, and Password from the portal. Tap Done.
Step 3 — Connect
Tap the connect toggle next to the rocket icon at the top of the screen. Shadowrocket routes all iOS traffic through TradersProxy on both Wi-Fi and cellular. Open cTrader and connect to your broker as normal.
Wi-Fi proxy vs Shadowrocket: The free iOS Wi-Fi method works on your home or office network. Use Shadowrocket if you trade on mobile data or want native SOCKS5 instead of HTTP.
