MT4 Proxy Setup on iPhone.
MT4’s iOS app has no native proxy dialog. Use iOS system Wi-Fi proxy settings to route MT4’s traffic through TradersProxy on your Wi-Fi network.
MT4 for iOS has no native proxy dialog. Use the iOS system Wi-Fi proxy: Settings → Wi-Fi → tap (i) next to your network → Configure Proxy → Manual → enter host, port → toggle Authentication ON → enter username and password → Save.

⚠ Wi-Fi only. HTTP proxy (not SOCKS5). The iOS system Wi-Fi proxy applies only to the Wi-Fi network you configure it on — not on cellular data (4G/5G). iOS only supports HTTP proxy in the Wi-Fi proxy settings (not SOCKS5). TradersProxy supports HTTP, so your credentials work. This proxy setting applies to all apps on that Wi-Fi network, not just MT4.
How to proxy MT4 on iPhone
Before you start
You need:
- MT4 installed on your iPhone or iPad and connecting to your broker without issues.
- Your TradersProxy credentials from the portal: host, port, username, password.
- Your iPhone connected to the Wi-Fi network you trade on.
Note: this guide covers the Wi-Fi proxy method. The iOS system proxy is HTTP only and applies only to Wi-Fi connections. It does not cover cellular (4G/5G) connections.
Step 1 — Copy your TradersProxy credentials
Log in to the TradersProxy portal. Copy your host, port, username, and password. Paste them into Notes on your iPhone so you can access them without switching apps.
Step 2 — Open Wi-Fi settings
Go to Settings → Wi-Fi. Find your current Wi-Fi network in the list (the one with a checkmark). Tap the (i) info icon to the right of the network name to open network details.
Step 3 — Open the HTTP Proxy configuration
Scroll to the bottom of the network details screen. You will see an HTTP Proxy section. Tap Configure Proxy. A screen appears with three options: Off, Manual, and Auto. Select Manual.
Step 4 — Enter the proxy host and port
In the Server field, paste your TradersProxy host address. In the Port field, enter the port number from your portal. Do not add spaces.
Step 5 — Enable authentication and enter credentials
Toggle the Authentication switch ON. Two fields appear: Username and Password. Enter your TradersProxy username and password exactly as shown in the portal. Copy-paste from your Notes to avoid typos.
Step 6 — Save and test
Tap Save in the top-right corner. You will return to the network details screen. iOS saves the proxy configuration for this Wi-Fi network.
Open MT4 and connect to your broker. MT4’s traffic on this Wi-Fi network now routes through your TradersProxy node. MT4 shows no proxy indicator — the routing is transparent.
To verify the proxy is active, open Safari and check your IP address at a lookup site — it should show the TradersProxy node IP, not your home IP.
Known gotchas on iOS
Issues specific to the iOS Wi-Fi proxy method.
Proxy only applies to the configured Wi-Fi network. iOS stores the proxy setting per Wi-Fi network. If you switch to a different Wi-Fi (e.g. hotel, office, phone hotspot) or use cellular, the proxy is not active. You must configure the proxy on each Wi-Fi network you trade on. Cellular connections are not covered.
HTTP proxy only — no SOCKS5 in iOS system settings. The iOS system Wi-Fi proxy dialog supports HTTP proxy only. It does not have a SOCKS5 option. TradersProxy supports HTTP CONNECT proxy, so your credentials work. The behaviour and routing benefits are the same as with SOCKS5.
Proxy settings are cleared when you forget a Wi-Fi network. If you remove a Wi-Fi network from your iPhone’s saved networks and re-add it, the proxy configuration is lost and must be re-entered. Do not “Forget this network” unless you intend to reconfigure the proxy.
Proxy applies to all apps on that Wi-Fi, not just MT4. The iOS system proxy is Wi-Fi-wide, similar to the Android AdGuard method. All apps on that network route through the proxy while it is configured. To trade without proxying other apps, there is currently no per-app proxy mechanism in iOS without additional software.
Method 2: Shadowrocket — SOCKS5 on cellular
The iOS Wi-Fi proxy above is free but limited to Wi-Fi and HTTP only. Shadowrocket ($2.99 one-off, App Store) supports SOCKS5 and works on both Wi-Fi and cellular data — the complete proxy solution for iPhone traders who trade on the go.
Shadowrocket setup — 3 steps
Step 1 — Purchase and install Shadowrocket
Search Shadowrocket on the App Store. It costs $2.99 (one-off payment, not a subscription). Install and open the app. Grant the VPN permission when prompted.
Step 2 — Add your TradersProxy server
Tap the + icon in the top-right corner. Set Type to SOCKS5. In the Host field, paste your TradersProxy host. Enter your Port, User, and Password from the portal. Tap Done.
Step 3 — Connect
Tap the connect toggle next to the rocket icon at the top of the screen. Shadowrocket routes all iOS traffic through TradersProxy on both Wi-Fi and cellular. Open MT4 and connect to your broker as normal.
Wi-Fi proxy vs Shadowrocket: The free iOS Wi-Fi method works on your home or office network. Use Shadowrocket if you trade on mobile data or want native SOCKS5 instead of HTTP.
FAQ — MT4 on iPhone
No. MT4 for iPhone and iPad does not have a proxy settings dialog in the app. There is no Settings > Connection > proxy path in the mobile app. The iOS system Wi-Fi proxy is the correct method — it is set in the iPhone's Wi-Fi settings and routes HTTP traffic from all apps including MT4.
Yes. iOS system Wi-Fi proxy settings support HTTP (CONNECT) proxy only, not SOCKS5. TradersProxy supports HTTP CONNECT proxy in addition to SOCKS5, so your credentials work with this method. The routing and priority handling is the same regardless of protocol.
No. The iOS system proxy setting in Wi-Fi settings applies only to the specific Wi-Fi network it was configured for. It does not apply to cellular data connections. Each Wi-Fi network you trade on must be configured separately. Cellular data connections on iOS are not covered by this method.
The iOS system Wi-Fi proxy applies to HTTP traffic from all apps on that Wi-Fi network, not just MT4. This is system-wide on Wi-Fi — similar to the Android AdGuard method, but limited to Wi-Fi only.
