What matters before you connect
ActivTrades is a UK-regulated broker established in 2001, offering both MT4 and MT5. Their server infrastructure is based in London at Equinix LD4. For traders outside Europe, a TradersProxy node near LD4 is the correct choice for minimising round-trip time. Both MT4 and MT5 use the same proxy configuration path — check the platform you are actually using.
The platform steps are the same across brokers. The server labels and datacenter location are what change. When the account portal and any public note disagree, trust the portal.
How to configure the platform
Copy the portal values into the platform proxy settings, save, restart if needed, then confirm the connection.
- Sign in to the TradersProxy portal and copy the host, port, username, and password exactly as shown.
- Open the proxy or connection settings in your platform.
- Select SOCKS5 as the protocol. Use HTTP only if the platform does not offer SOCKS5.
- Paste the portal values. Do not type them by hand.
- Save the settings, restart the platform if required, and test the connection.

What usually goes wrong
- Wrong protocol. Use SOCKS5 where available. Use HTTP only if the platform does not offer SOCKS5.
- Typed credentials. Paste the values from the portal so the host, port, and password stay exact.
- Wrong server label. Match the broker portal or welcome email, not an old screenshot.
- No restart. Some platforms do not apply proxy changes until you quit and reopen them.
FAQ for ActivTrades traders
ActivTrades runs their MT4 and MT5 infrastructure at Equinix LD4 in London. European traders will have naturally low latency. Traders in Asia, Oceania, or the Americas should use a TradersProxy node near LD4 to reduce round-trip time.
The proxy configuration steps are the same in both platforms: Tools, then Options, then Server. You need to configure each platform separately if you use both. The proxy credentials from your TradersProxy portal are the same for both.
TradersProxy works with ActivTrades' MT4 and MT5 connections. ActivTrader is a proprietary platform and does not use MT4 proxy settings. If you only use ActivTrader, TradersProxy does not apply to that platform.
