What matters before you connect
Forex.com (operated by GAIN Capital) is a large US-regulated forex and CFD broker founded in 1999. Their primary MT4 infrastructure is hosted at Equinix NY4 in New Jersey, with London infrastructure for European clients. For US traders, a TradersProxy node near NY4 is the optimal choice. For non-US clients using European servers, select the LD4 node instead.
The platform steps are the same across brokers. The server labels and datacenter location are what change. When the account portal and any public note disagree, trust the portal.
How to configure the platform
Copy the portal values into the platform proxy settings, save, restart if needed, then confirm the connection.
- Sign in to the TradersProxy portal and copy the host, port, username, and password exactly as shown.
- Open the proxy or connection settings in your platform.
- Select SOCKS5 as the protocol. Use HTTP only if the platform does not offer SOCKS5.
- Paste the portal values. Do not type them by hand.
- Save the settings, restart the platform if required, and test the connection.
Platform menu paths
MT4 and MT5: Tools → Options → Server tab.
cTrader: Settings → Advanced → Connection.
Other platforms: find the connection settings, choose a proxy type, and paste the portal values.

Routing note
Forex.com servers are hosted at Equinix NY4 (New Jersey) / LD4 (London). Select the TradersProxy node nearest to NY4 in your account settings for minimum round-trip latency.
What usually goes wrong
- Wrong protocol. Use SOCKS5 where available. Use HTTP only if the platform does not offer SOCKS5.
- Typed credentials. Paste the values from the portal so the host, port, and password stay exact.
- Wrong server label. Match the broker portal or welcome email, not an old screenshot.
- No restart. Some platforms do not apply proxy changes until you quit and reopen them.
FAQ for Forex.com traders
Forex.com's primary MT4/MT5 infrastructure for US and Americas clients is at Equinix NY4 in New Jersey. European clients connect to Equinix LD4 in London. Check your account portal or the server hostname in your platform to confirm which facility you're connecting to.
US regulation (CFTC/NFA) affects account terms and available instruments, not proxy configuration. MT4 proxy settings work identically on US-regulated and offshore-regulated Forex.com accounts.
Use whichever platform you prefer — the proxy configuration steps are identical on both. MT4: Tools, then Options, then Server. MT5: same path. Configure each platform separately.
