How to set up TradersProxy for IG Markets
This page covers the IG Markets-specific setup notes, the platform steps, and the server labels you are most likely to see. TradersProxy is broker-agnostic, so the connection logic is the same across brokers.
Use the broker portal for the exact server name. Use this page for the setup path and the routing notes.

What matters before you connect
IG Markets is one of the world's largest CFD and spread-betting brokers, founded in 1974. Their MT4 infrastructure runs primarily on Equinix LD4 in London. For traders outside Europe, a TradersProxy node near LD4 can meaningfully reduce round-trip latency. Note that IG's proprietary platform (IG Web) does not use MT4 proxy settings — only the MT4 platform uses the proxy path.
The platform steps are the same across brokers. The server labels and datacenter location are what change. When the account portal and any public note disagree, trust the portal.
How to configure the platform
Copy the portal values into the platform proxy settings, save, restart if needed, then confirm the connection.
- Sign in to the TradersProxy portal and copy the host, port, username, and password exactly as shown.
- Open the proxy or connection settings in your platform.
- Select SOCKS5 as the protocol. Use HTTP only if the platform does not offer SOCKS5.
- Paste the portal values. Do not type them by hand.
- Save the settings, restart the platform if required, and test the connection.
Platform menu paths
MT4 and MT5: Tools → Options → Server tab.
cTrader: Settings → Advanced → Connection.
Other platforms: find the connection settings, choose a proxy type, and paste the portal values.
Server names and routing notes for IG Markets
These are the server labels for IG Markets. Use the one that matches your account type. If the broker portal shows a different label, trust the portal.

Routing note
IG Markets servers are hosted at Equinix LD4 (London). Select the TradersProxy node nearest to LD4 in your account settings for minimum round-trip latency.
What usually goes wrong
- Wrong protocol. Use SOCKS5 where available. Use HTTP only if the platform does not offer SOCKS5.
- Typed credentials. Paste the values from the portal so the host, port, and password stay exact.
- Wrong server label. Match the broker portal or welcome email, not an old screenshot.
- No restart. Some platforms do not apply proxy changes until you quit and reopen them.
FAQ for IG Markets traders
IG Markets' MT4 servers are hosted at Equinix LD4 in London (Slough). Traders in Europe will have naturally low latency. For traders in Asia, Oceania, or the Americas, a TradersProxy node near LD4 significantly reduces round-trip time.
TradersProxy works with IG's MT4 platform. IG's proprietary web platform and mobile app use IG's own infrastructure and do not pass through MT4 proxy settings. If you trade via MT4 with an IG account, configure the proxy in MT4 under Tools, then Options, then Server.
No. The account type (CFD or spread betting) does not affect proxy configuration. The MT4 proxy settings work the same regardless of account type. Connect using the server label for your specific IG account region.
