This page covers the LMAX Exchange-specific setup notes, the platform steps, and the server labels you are most likely to see. TradersProxy is broker-agnostic, so the connection logic is the same across brokers.
Use the broker portal for the exact server name. Use this page for the setup path and the routing notes.

What matters before you connect
LMAX Exchange is an FCA-regulated multilateral trading facility (MTF) offering institutional-grade ECN execution. Their infrastructure runs at Equinix LD4 in London. LMAX offers MT4 access through their MT4 gateway for retail clients. For low-latency access from outside Europe, a TradersProxy node near LD4 is the correct configuration. Note: LMAX's native FIX API is not compatible with TradersProxy's SOCKS5 proxy.
The platform steps are the same across brokers. The server labels and datacenter location are what change. When the account portal and any public note disagree, trust the portal.
How to configure the platform
Copy the portal values into the platform proxy settings, save, restart if needed, then confirm the connection.
- Sign in to the TradersProxy portal and copy the host, port, username, and password exactly as shown.
- Open the proxy or connection settings in your platform.
- Select SOCKS5 as the protocol. Use HTTP only if the platform does not offer SOCKS5.
- Paste the portal values. Do not type them by hand.
- Save the settings, restart the platform if required, and test the connection.
Platform menu paths
MT4 and MT5: Tools → Options → Server tab.
cTrader: Settings → Advanced → Connection.
Other platforms: find the connection settings, choose a proxy type, and paste the portal values.
Server names and routing notes for LMAX Exchange
These are the server labels for LMAX Exchange. Use the one that matches your account type. If the broker portal shows a different label, trust the portal.

Routing note
LMAX Exchange servers are hosted at Equinix LD4 (London). Select the TradersProxy node nearest to LD4 in your account settings for minimum round-trip latency.
What usually goes wrong
- Wrong protocol. Use SOCKS5 where available. Use HTTP only if the platform does not offer SOCKS5.
- Typed credentials. Paste the values from the portal so the host, port, and password stay exact.
- Wrong server label. Match the broker portal or welcome email, not an old screenshot.
- No restart. Some platforms do not apply proxy changes until you quit and reopen them.
FAQ for LMAX Exchange traders
LMAX Exchange's matching engine and server infrastructure is located at Equinix LD4 in London (Slough). This is the same facility used by many institutional forex ECNs. Traders outside Europe should use a TradersProxy node near LD4 to minimise latency.
No. ECN architecture affects how orders are matched, not how your MT4 client connects to the server. The proxy configuration in MT4 is the same regardless of whether the broker uses an ECN or dealing desk model.
TradersProxy is designed for MT4/MT5 SOCKS5 proxy connections. LMAX's FIX API uses a different connection model and does not use MT4 proxy settings. For FIX API latency optimisation, TradersProxy is not the applicable tool.
