Bybit through a proxy, what changes and what doesn’t

The short answer

This guide shows how to put a Bybit bot on a proxy. Bybit says its servers are in Singapore, where our server connects to Bybit. Bybit limits requests for each address, and ours is shared, so check the limits first.

Your bot can use Traders Proxy only if it has a proxy setting

Your program must have a proxy setting that takes a login and a password. Many bots and scripts do. Only the program you set up uses Traders Proxy, and everything else on your computer stays on your normal internet.

Why it matters. Your plan’s data goes on your bot, not on browsing or downloads.

If your program has no proxy setting, it can’t use Traders Proxy. We have no mode that sends your whole computer through us. So look for a proxy option in your program’s settings before you pay.

Bybit says its servers are in Singapore, so start there

Bybit’s own developer page says its servers are in Singapore (Bybit developer page). Singapore is on our cities page.

What it means for you. You don’t have to guess a city. Pick Singapore as your broker’s city, and our server there makes the final connection to Bybit.

Your own timing still decides whether it helps you, so test it before you rely on it.

Lost data is sent again from our server, not from your computer

This is the one connection step that we change, so it is what your test can show.

A backtest runs on your own machine, so no internet link can lose a piece of data during a news release. In live trading, one lost piece holds up every price update and order behind it. Everything waits while your computer sends it again across the world.

Your program connects to our server. Our server makes its own, separate connection to Bybit and passes your data between the two.

Your bot sends orders as small pieces of data. If one is lost between our server and Bybit, our server sends it again. Your computer doesn’t have to send it again from far away.

Why it matters. While a lost piece is sent again, everything after it waits. That wait then depends on the distance from our server to Bybit, not from you.

That helps only on the connection between our server and Bybit. Data lost between you and our server is sent again between you and our server.

Our server also sends an order out as soon as it arrives. It never holds data back to bundle, so a small order goes straight out.

You cannot paste four values into your platform while your chart is already frozen in a live trade. Set it up today while the market is calm. Then time it on your own screen during the next release.

The table sorts what we can change from what we can’t, so you know what your test can show.

What Traders Proxy can and cannot change for a Bybit program
WhatCan we change it?Why
The distance to Bybit’s serversNoPing is the time data takes there and back. We don’t promise lower ping. Distance sets the minimum.
Where lost data is sent again fromYes, on the connection between our server and BybitOur server has its own connection to Bybit, so it sends the data again from there.
Bybit’s request limitsNoBybit counts most limits for each account, and one for each address, which is shared.
Bybit’s prices and your fillsNoBybit and the market set them.

If the shared address is blocked, your bot is blocked too

Read this before you put a busy bot on our server. It tells you whether Traders Proxy suits your bot at all.

Bybit counts most request limits for each account. It also has an overall limit for each address. An address that goes over it is blocked for at least 10 minutes (Bybit rate limits).

Bybit sees one steady address, our server’s, shared with other Traders Proxy customers. It changes if you switch city or we replace a server.

What it means for you. Other customers’ requests count towards the same address limit. If that address is blocked, your bot is locked out for those 10 minutes as well.

So if your bot sends many requests a minute, test it on a small account first and watch for limit errors.

If your API key lists allowed addresses, add the new one after any change. Otherwise your bot is locked out. Because our address is shared, listing it protects you less than an address only you use.

Traders Proxy is no way round where Bybit lets you trade from. Check Bybit’s terms for your account before you start.

If your broker prohibits proxies, don’t use one. An exchange counts as your broker here.

Four steps, and the last one tells you if it helps

How to set up your bot in four steps

  1. 01

    Pick Singapore in your dashboard

Choose Change your broker’s city, pick Singapore and choose Use this city. Our server there is the one that connects to Bybit. You can switch it there later.

  2. 02

    Copy the four values

Under Your values, copy the Server, Port, Login and Password. There is nothing to install. These four tell your program where our server is and let it in.

  3. 03

Enter them in your program’s proxy setting

Choose SOCKS5 or HTTP, whichever your program offers, and enter the four values. Restart the program if it asks, so it starts using the new setting.

Each program’s maker decides which of its connections use its proxy setting.

  4. 04

Time it with the proxy off, then on

Time one request both ways in a busy session and compare them. If your platform can’t connect through us and support can’t fix it, we refund your first payment within 7 days on a monthly plan, or 14 days on a yearly plan or Founder 50. This doesn’t affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

If they match, stop renewal in your dashboard before your renewal date. You keep access to the end of the period you paid for.

Common questions about Bybit and Traders Proxy

Frequently asked questions

Will Traders Proxy lower my delay to Bybit?

We don’t promise lower ping. Distance sets the minimum. What can change is where lost data is sent again from. Time your own program to see.

Does a proxy change my request limits on Bybit?

No. Bybit counts most limits for each account and one for each address. Our address is shared with other customers, so the address limit is shared too.

Can I send TradingView alerts to Bybit through this?

No. Only programs on your computer that you set up use Traders Proxy. A TradingView alert is sent from TradingView’s own servers, so it doesn’t pass through us.

Do you know where Bybit’s servers are?

Bybit’s developer page says they are in Singapore. We name the city only, as Bybit states it.

MetaTrader 4 & 5Not a proxy problem

Invalid account, Authorization failed and an empty broker server list

“I'm not able to search for other brokers in MT5 (Windows) Version: 5.00 build 4817 25 Jan 2025.”

Why a proxy does not change this. Traders Proxy forwards your platform’s traffic. It does not create, verify or fix your broker login.

Where it stops. If the Journal reports Invalid account or Authorization failed, your terminal reached the server and your login or server name needs checking.

Windows VPS & RoutingNot a proxy problem

Long-distance delay and undersea cable faults between regions

“Find a broker that uses cloudflare. I use VPN but from Europe. First traded with Generic Trader and ping was 200-300ms. then I changed to Ninjatrader and now my ping is 15-45ms depending on which serverlocation I use as VPN.”

Why a proxy does not change this. No claim. We don't shorten the distance between you and your broker's city, and we don't promise lower ping.

Where it stops. If your route to your broker’s city is long or damaged, our server cannot repair that cable fault and adds a step along the way.

Windows VPS & RoutingNot a proxy problem

Login, install and Authorization failed errors that look like a network block

“i have a problem installing both mt4 or mt5 it asks for a proxy server right away don't even let me have an installation folder”

Why a proxy does not change this. No claim. Login and install errors are usually on your own computer or in the login you used, not on the network.

Where it stops. Our setup guide separates the broker login from the MQL5 Community login. Authorization failed is usually a login or server-name mismatch.

MetaTrader 4 & 5Solves

MetaTrader 5 will not use a proxy running on the same computer

“that proxy setting is working on MT4, so the problem is from MT5 not proxy”

How our system handles it. You don't need a tunnel app on your computer. Your platform connects to our server through its own Proxy setting.

  • Own separate connection to your brokerPrimary
  • Built-in SOCKS5 loginPrimary

Where it stops. Your platform connects through its built-in Proxy window, with no extra app to install. Some MetaTrader 5 builds have separate proxy-window bugs.
