01 · What changes

When data is lost near your broker, your order waits on a short distance.

Our server in your broker’s city puts trading ports first, keeps broker addresses warm in memory and replaces lost pieces locally. So your order waits on a short local connection, not the whole way from your computer.

The setting lives inside MT4, so your other programs stay on your normal internet and your plan’s data goes on trading. MetaQuotes doesn’t say which of MT4’s own connections follow the setting, so we don’t say either.

Ping is the time data takes there and back. We don’t promise lower ping because distance sets the minimum. No proxy can move your broker closer.

If your broker prohibits proxies, don’t use one. Your broker’s rules still apply to you.

02 · Set it up

Set it up in MT4.

  1. Pick a plan

Pay with Stripe and set your password, because your values are in your dashboard. Skip this if you already have a plan.

  2. Pick your broker’s city

In your dashboard, under Your broker’s city, press Change your broker’s city. Pick the city and press its Use button, such as Use London. Our server in that city connects to your broker. Your four values never change when you do this.

  3. Copy your four values

In Your values for your platform, open the MT4 tab. Use each value’s copy button, because one wrong character makes the test fail. We never ask for your broker login.

  4. Open MT4’s proxy settings

Use the menu path below, tick Enable proxy server and press Proxy…. The setting is inside MT4, so nothing else on your computer uses it. Ctrl+O also opens Options. On a Mac or Linux, the menu is the same inside the MT4 that MetaQuotes’ installer sets up.

    2. Options
    3. Server
    4. Enable proxy server
    5. Proxy…
  5. Enter the values

Paste each value into its box, in the order the proxy window asks for them. Paste the server value exactly as your dashboard shows it, because MetaQuotes doesn’t say where MT4 wants the port.

  6. Press Test, then OK

Test shows an error if a value is wrong, so you find out now and not in the middle of a trade. Press OK when it passes. Close and reopen MT4 only if it doesn’t reconnect, because MetaQuotes names no restart step.

Then look at Market Watch, where prices should tick. Your dashboard should show one device connected, which tells you MT4 reached our server.

03 · Does it help you?

Time it yourself, so you decide on your own numbers.

Time how long MT4 takes to connect and show live prices, without us and then with us. Write both numbers down.

Do it in a busy session, because that is when lost data makes your chart and orders wait. If it takes the same time both ways, you don’t need us.

04 · On your phone

On Android, a proxy app lets MT4 on your phone use our server too.

MetaQuotes documents no proxy setting in the MT4 phone app, and we found none. On Android, an app such as AdGuard can send chosen apps through a proxy. Choose only MT4, so your other apps keep your normal internet.

Count your phone as one of your plan’s devices, so check you have one to spare. iPhone is untested.

In AdGuard, add the proxy

  1. Settings
  2. Filtering
  3. Network
  4. Proxy

Then send only MT4 through it

  1. App management
  2. MT4
  3. Route traffic through AdGuard

05 · If it won’t connect

If it won’t connect, check these in order.

  1. 01The server value is pasted exactly as your dashboard shows it, with nothing added or missing.
  2. 02The type and the server match what your values panel lists, because each type has its own port. Copy them again from there.
  3. 03The login and password are your Traders Proxy ones, not your broker’s. If MT4 still refuses, wait a little and try again.
  4. 04You’re within your plan’s device count, because an extra device is turned away. Your dashboard shows the devices connected now.
  5. 05Did you just change network, such as hotel Wi-Fi to your phone’s hotspot? Our server closes the old connection quickly. On a one-device plan, wait a moment before you try again.
  6. 06Did you just change the server you connect to? Wait until your dashboard says it’s ready, usually about half a minute. Then paste the new Server value.
  7. 07A firewall or security program may block the connection. Test shows an error when it does.
  8. 08Your MT4 is a current build. MetaQuotes stopped older builds connecting to broker servers on 1 Jul 2025.

Stop-loss and take-profit orders sit on your broker’s server, so they stay in place if your connection drops. Trailing stops run inside MT4, so they only work while it is open and connected.

Still stuck? Ask support and say which step you reached.

Real MT4 proxy and connection problems traders post online.

MetaQuotes blocks the trader's own home or ISP address with 'No connection' on every server

“Starting from Sunday I'm unable to connect my MT5 platforms from my home network. By other networks or mobile 4G it works perfectly.”

How our system handles it. If your own internet address is the problem, your platform connects to our server and your broker sees our server's address instead of yours.

  • Built-in SOCKS5 loginPrimary
  • One steady addressPrimary
  • City switchingSupporting

Where it stops. We cannot clear a block on your own address, and our server address can be blocked too. MQL5.community and Market calls may not use the platform proxy setting.

A firewall, router or ISP drops the platform's broker connection but lets ordinary web traffic through

“General ports like 443 work fine, but the specific broker ports (e.g., 1950 for RoboForex) fail to connect, while other random ports respond correctly.”

How our system handles it. Your platform connects to our server through its built-in SOCKS5 or HTTP proxy setting, and our server opens the broker connection from inside the datacenter.

  • Built-in SOCKS5 loginPrimary
  • Own separate connection to your brokerPrimary
  • Unanswered broker server gives up fast and reportsSupporting

Where it stops. Works only if your network still lets you reach our server. We cannot repair a faulty home router or an ISP outage.

Generic or free proxies fail MetaTrader's proxy Test button

“Server — enter here the IP address and port number of the server separated by a colon. To the right of this field, select the type of proxy server: HTTP, SOCKS4 or SOCKS5. In HTTP mode, NTLM authentication is also supported”

How our system handles it. Use SOCKS5 or HTTP, whichever your platform offers. Enter our server, login and password in MetaTrader’s own Proxy window.

  • Built-in SOCKS5 loginPrimary
  • Built-in HTTP proxy loginSupporting

Where it stops. MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 support SOCKS5 and HTTP (not SOCKS4). A passing Test confirms the route reaches our server.

MetaTrader 4 & 5Not a proxy problem

MT5's own Proxy box overwrites, empties or refuses to save what you type

“I click on Enable proxy server -> Proxy ... -> Give my server , login . password , sock5 Then when i press test or ok , it doesnt go anywhere at all. The cursor goes back to the server field. I tried the same setting on my local computer , it is working fine.”

Why a proxy does not change this. We change nothing on your computer. The server, login and password go into your platform's own Proxy setting.

  • Only the app you set up is routedBoundary

Where it stops. We change nothing on your computer. If a MetaTrader 5 build fails to save its proxy dialog, we cannot repair the terminal window itself.

MetaTrader 4 & 5Not a proxy problem

The platform's proxy setting does not cover everything (WebRequest, MQL5.community, Market)

“Enable proxy server — allow the use of a proxy server when connecting to the trade server.”

Why a proxy does not change this. Only the trading app you set up uses Traders Proxy. Everything else stays on your normal internet.

  • Only the app you set up is routedBoundary

Where it stops. Only the trading app you set up uses Traders Proxy. Expert Advisor web calls, custom DLLs and Market downloads may still use your normal internet.

MetaTrader 4 & 5Reduces one factor

'Ping failed' and drops with disconnects every few minutes, re-login loops and dropped sessions

“Is the chart freezing, or is it the terminal? If it is the terminal, then it is likely a broken indicator.”

What our system reduces. If your device drops off, our server notices quickly and frees its place, so your platform can reconnect instead of hanging.

  • Dead connections found and freedPrimary
  • Straight back in after a dropPrimary
  • Reconnect surges admitted in a steady streamSupporting
  • Own separate connection to your brokerSupporting

Where it stops. We do not prevent internet drops or fix broker faults. After a disconnect, your platform logs in again, so always use broker-side stop-loss orders.
