MT5 Proxy Setup on Android.
MT5’s Android app has no native proxy dialog. The correct method: AdGuard free sets a device-level SOCKS5 proxy that routes MT5’s traffic through your TradersProxy node.
MT5 for Android has no native proxy settings dialog. Install AdGuard free from Google Play. In AdGuard: Settings → Filtering → Network → Proxy → add proxy → SOCKS5 → enter your TradersProxy host, port, username, password. Enable the proxy. Enable AdGuard protection. Done.

⚠ Phone-wide proxy warning. AdGuard routes all apps on your phone through the proxy — not just MT5. All apps use the proxy while AdGuard is active. On a mobile data plan, this will consume your data allowance faster than normal. Disable AdGuard when you are not trading if data usage is a concern.
How to proxy MT5 on Android
Before you start
You need:
- MT5 installed and connecting to your broker normally — confirm a working baseline first.
- Your TradersProxy credentials from the portal: host, port, username, password.
- AdGuard free installed from Google Play.
Step 1 — Copy your TradersProxy credentials
Log in to the TradersProxy portal. Open your connection details and copy the host, port, username, and password for your assigned node. Paste them into a notes app on your phone before proceeding.
Step 2 — Install AdGuard from Google Play
Search AdGuard on Google Play. Install AdGuard: Block Ads & Surf Safe by AdGuard Software Limited. The free version includes full proxy support. Grant the VPN permission when prompted — this is how AdGuard applies the proxy device-wide.
Step 3 — Open the proxy settings in AdGuard
In AdGuard, tap the Settings icon at the bottom. Tap Filtering. Tap Network. Tap Proxy.
Step 4 — Add your TradersProxy proxy server
Tap the + button. Configure the proxy:
- Proxy type: SOCKS5. If your carrier blocks SOCKS5, switch to HTTP — TradersProxy supports both.
- Proxy host: paste the host from your portal
- Proxy port: enter the port number from your portal
- Username: your TradersProxy username
- Password: your TradersProxy password
Tap Save.
Step 5 — Enable the proxy and AdGuard protection
Toggle Enable proxy on. Return to the AdGuard main screen and confirm protection is active (green shield). Both must be on for the proxy to work.
Step 6 — Launch MT5 and confirm
Open MT5. Connect to your broker as usual. MT5 shows no proxy indicator in the mobile app — routing happens at the OS level. Your MT5 traffic now routes through your TradersProxy node.
Known gotchas on Android
Issues traders hit most often with the AdGuard proxy method.
Disable battery optimisation for AdGuard. Android will suspend AdGuard when the screen locks unless you set it to Unrestricted. Go to Android Settings → Apps → AdGuard → Battery → Unrestricted. This is the most common cause of MT5 disconnections on Android with a proxy.
Check proxy status after AdGuard updates. AdGuard updates can reset the proxy toggle. After any AdGuard update, verify the proxy is still enabled in Settings → Filtering → Network → Proxy before trading.
Some carriers block port 1080 on mobile data. SOCKS5 typically runs on port 1080. If it works on Wi-Fi but not cellular, your carrier is blocking the port. Switch proxy type to HTTP in AdGuard as a fallback.
Data usage increases on mobile plans. The proxy routes all phone traffic while active. Disable AdGuard when not trading to avoid unnecessary data consumption. AdGuard also supports per-app filtering if you want to route only specific apps.
Alternative: SocksDroid
SocksDroid is a dedicated SOCKS5 proxy client for Android. It’s lighter than AdGuard — no ad-blocking layer, no “enable protection” toggle — just a direct SOCKS5 tunnel using Android’s VPN service. Free, no root required, available on Google Play.
SocksDroid setup — 4 steps
Step 1 — Install SocksDroid from Google Play
Search SocksDroid on Google Play and install it. Grant the VPN permission when prompted — it uses Android’s VPN service to route traffic, the same mechanism as AdGuard.
Step 2 — Enter your proxy server details
In SocksDroid, paste your TradersProxy host into the Server Address field and your port into the Port field.
Step 3 — Enable authentication
Toggle Enable Authentication on. Enter your TradersProxy username and password from the portal. SocksDroid supports SOCKS5 username/password authentication directly.
Step 4 — Connect
Tap the connect toggle at the top of the screen. SocksDroid creates a VPN tunnel routing all device traffic through your TradersProxy SOCKS5 node. Open MT5 and connect to your broker as normal.
AdGuard vs SocksDroid: AdGuard supports per-app filtering and has a more polished UI. SocksDroid is leaner — one toggle, purpose-built for proxy routing. Both require battery optimisation disabled (Android Settings → Apps → [app] → Battery → Unrestricted) to stay active when your screen locks.
FAQ — MT5 on Android
No. MT5 for Android does not have a proxy settings dialog in its menus. There is no menu path that leads to a proxy configuration screen in the mobile app. The native proxy field exists in the desktop version only. On Android, proxy configuration must be done at the OS level using a tool like AdGuard.
Yes. AdGuard free for Android supports both SOCKS5 and HTTP proxy types with username and password authentication. You enter credentials when adding the proxy in Settings > Filtering > Network > Proxy.
Yes. A device-level proxy set through AdGuard applies to all apps on the phone, not just MT5. Be aware that all apps will route through the proxy while AdGuard is active, which will consume more data on a mobile plan.
